weekend update/my life/minneapolis natural light photographer and commercial/modeling photographer

Honestly, it was quite the weekend for me…very busy:)  I shot for Wilhelmina both yesterday and today.  I was having some mommy guilt as I don’t miss my kid’s activities much and i missed most of Logan’s state basketball games yesterday…but did make it to Bloomington Jefferson last night after my full day of shoots to watch him play his last game of the season, as they lost:(  Today I was back at the studio very early to prepare for a second day of Wilhelmina shoots, we got “kicked out” at the Mill City Museum yesterday as our models came with clothing changes and the make up artist had make up on wheels…we were a red flag for sure:) We ended up doing our last shoot yesterday and all of our shoots today at my studio/around my studio and it worked out perfectly. Edits from the weekend to come yet this week, I promise:)  I just uploaded them all and all is good on this end for sure!

 

Anyways…Allie’s end of year dance banquet was a Buhl Oaks this afternoon from 2-5 pm and I strolled in right as there was one minute to go:(  I will be honest and say that I was ready to butt right in with my camera and I thought I’d go last to capture images…as all of the parents were snapping away…but my husband told me to NOT make a spectacle….LOL.. he knows me so well, he knows that I want the perfect picture, etc…etc.  So, I did the passive thing as a photographer and I just passed up many shots…as I didn’t want to make it about me by any means:):):)  I said to one mom ” my husband says I just need to keep quiet”…and she said loudly  “hey, everyone you need to look over here now”…and i got this shot!

It was such a fun winter for the whole Anderson family with Allie on the competition team for JV for Orono-their first JV team ever and the girls did really well.

As a photographer who specializes in seniors…I also have to say that Laura is graduating this year and she truly holds a special place in my heart…as does her mom for sure!  I wish her the very best and ODT will be missing her presence and her parents presence for sure.  SMOOCHES!  ODT has such great girls…all of them, great coaches and great parents.

i feel so blessed to have some strong relationships among those that get me and understand me and how important my work is to me, etc.  Brittani’s friendship is one of my newer ones…but one that has grown strong in the past 6 months-even though i am basically double her age:):):)  she is so easy…so even keeled…and non judgemental.  so far i have edited two images from our time together this week for your viewing!

seniors of 2013/minneapolis natural light and senior photographer

I am so stinking excited to get back on the streets this spring/summer for my seniors.  I am sad to hear that some of my favorite walls/locations near Riverplace are boarded up more than ever with no trespassing signs for us photographers.  This just means that I need to find some new locations:)  It truly is getting harder and harder to not get kicked out of shooting these days.  I am so excited about my studio and it’s location as in the last 6 months I have seen one photographer on the streets on two occasions in an alley-otherwise, it’s just me out there.  I don’t get kicked out anywhere near my studio!!!  Just a friendly reminder that my shooting schedule is now up from June-September and I will be limiting the number of shoots that I do to balance it all nicely with family and summer activities-traveling baseball, etc.  I am a one person operation…plus CEO of the anderson household too!  So far I have booked seniors from the following schools for this summer already:

Eden Prairie

Edina

 

so, i’m off to a good start and a very nice variety:)  love that! Tons of what seniors of 2013 need to know is all up on my senior website for viewing, please read it all over and holler if you still have any questions as i do work different from most photographers:)

the many expressions of max/minneapolis natural light, kid and commercial photographer

I spent at least and hour with max and i honestly think i took 30 images total.  he was a wiggle worm and interested in just moving around.  but, we got some keepers and some fun expressions for sure.  he sure is cute and full of personality!  he is the youngest of 5 boys and mom said he is the mellow one…he made me work hard to even get these images…check these out:)  he makes me smile inside and out!

max and his delightful mom came to my studio this week and let me just honestly say that he was a mover and a shaker.  i honestly don’t think i have ever had a kid move to much during a shoot.  on the positive side of things, at least my studio is big enough so he could do that nicely!  and, we did get a couple keepers…but he made me work for them, this i know for certain!  max is signed on with one of the big modeling agencies here in Minneapolis already!  very fun!  more to follow yet today or tomorrow if all goes well on my end.  please check back again soon, k?

stinkin cute/minneapolis natural light, kid and modeling photographer

more of miss liv before i hit the bed tonight.  she truly has a little christie brinkley look to her, don’t cha think?  stunning.  i seriously hope i get to shoot her again real soon as i know we will become good friends if i see her more often! i can only imagine what we could have gotten with her looks and my camera if she wasn’t quite to shy with me.  but, we got some keepers and some that i know i would blow up big time if i was her parents.  i will include her images in my modeling portfolio and i currently have two agencies peeking at my work right now as well:)

 

 

 

 

i have to admit on all of her images i like both the color and the bw edits almost the same.  that doesn’t typically happen!

MMMM/more modeling mini’s monday /minneapolis commercial, kid, natural light and modeling photographer

okay…one more stab at these modeling mini’s.  what did i learn from this past week?  i ended up needing at least an hour with each of the small kiddos to get any keepers.  each kid was very different from the next and i am really fussy with my work:)  i was soooooo grateful that i had some cancellations over the weekend or i would have been screwed and that is saying it lightly:)  LOL  ages 5-18 on these on 3.12 at my studio.  first come, first serve.  leave a message here as to what time or times would work for you and i will edit/update this blog post each time i am at my computer:)  $95 for 30 minutes and the best 3-5 images edited in color/bw.   $50 dollar deposit to hold your time slot…i will shoot you my address asap so you can get a check in the mail to me:)  no prints…this just includes shoot time and private gallery with the best 3-5 images custom edited.  holler if you have any questions!  oh, and feel free to sign up for two spots if you want more time with me as well.  2 slots=double the images, double the fun…but double the price too!  i am kid portfolio building for one modeling agency in particular…that’s the only reason the price is so cheap:):):)  i do want kids dressed in bright, fun colors….matilda jane, j crew, mini boden, anthropologie, etc.  fun clothes and fun accessories please!

addison/minneapolis natural light, kid and modeling photographer

miss addison does a little bit of modeling…and her mom dresses her well:)  on these mini shoots i promised 3-5 and with addison her mom chose to pay more when i told her i had a few more keepers…and as a photographer she trusted my opinion.  it was fun to catch up with christina a bit while we were working on getting addison to do her thing for the camera!!!!  we could have used another hour, but by the time we were at the end addison was melting down anyways:)  all three of these kid shoots were humbling for me…they wore me out, but in the end so worth it.  i am pleased that i got a smiley image or two of miss A…as i have noticed she likes to do the serious poses when i follow her mom’s work:):)  i already heard from her mom and she likes one of the smiley ones a lot!  score!  i love this first one as much in color as i do in bw…just saying!

addison’s mom is a fellow photographer and we shared my first studio together in hopkins.  i was oh, so tickled when she signed up for these mini sessions as i hadn’t see her or addison for years. sad, but true.  i follow their life a bit on facebook though:)  anyways…she is stinkin cute and came with the best outfits-like i knew they would:)  she likes to definitely give the more serious looks, but she did give me at least one smile during our time together too!  here is just one sneak peek from today:)

mini shoots tomorrow update/minneapolis natural light and kid, and modeling photographer

I am back in town and I am back on my own computer:)  yeah!  We were in Rochester at a basketball tournament this past weekend and I was unable to edit my blog via my phone and there were only two computers in the lobby and someone was always on them.   Logan’s team had three games yesterday… and one this morning so a crazy weekend!  we went 2 for 2 this weekend overall.   Anyways, here is the deal for tomorrow!

my studio address is 18 north 4th street #406 in minneapolis!  i am in the rockler fur building and i am across the street from the police dept and the gay 90′s.  please be sure that you come to the door that has the 18 above it and TURN the handle and pull the door open.  it is an old, heavy door and many clients pull and don’t turn and they think they are locked out, but they are not:)  in the lobby buzz 406 and i will buzz you up. my studio is on the 4th floor so take the elevator up!  please be on time as these are going to be fast and quick.  also, if you arrive early please be courteous to the people ahead of you.  the bathrooms are in the hall if you need one as well.

parking:  there is ample street parking/pay with a couple quarters or a credit card.  there is also a cheap lot next to the gay 90′s.  please allow yourself a few extra minutes to get parked, and up into my studio!  if you are late it will cut into your shooting time…so please be prompt as most likely there will be someone arriving early for their shoot after you:)  if you need better directions than this…please holler.  i know many of you are coming from the west so 394 to the 4th street exit, and my studio is down one more block after pizza lucet, but on the left hand side of the street.  it’s super easy to find.  one block west of the mpls library, and basically a block and a half away from runyons on washington…if that helps get you a better idea of location/area.

please come with one or two outfits, i love bright, fun outfits!

wanted/kid models/minneapolis natural light, kid and modeling photographer

*****EDITED *** I  am doing my absolute best filling these time slots while i am out of town.   i am giving first come, first serve… based upon whether you noted a certain time or full flexibility.  payton and kennedy cannot make it now, so i just opened up their slots.

wanted: on a short notice.  On 3.5.12 I will be in the studio from 10-2 and I am offering 30 minute mini sessions for individual kids between the ages of 3-13.  Sign up by leaving a comment here on my blog:)  I need stinkin cute kids…dressed in stinkin cute clothes!  mini boden, matilda jane, etc. Layered, fun, and bright colors please! I do know it’s a school day, but I also know that some moms that are interested getting their kids into modeling will “pull” their kid out for an hour as well, no different than a doctor appointment, correct?

I was oh, so flattered when I got an email from Dani asking if i would do her head shots, etc as she is going back to “regular” work.  She was a photographer in the past, so I knew we’d have a lot of creative fun together.  She didn’t want the “typical” head shot and she sent me examples of a few that she found visually appealing, and we had a blast trying to capture the same sort of feel for her.  Here is just one of her favorites…Dani is gorgeous and oh, so sweet too!

Okay all, here is the deal!  I am itching to do a boudoir shoot in a “styled home”-one with a gourmet kitchen with amazing natural light and a fabulous bathroom/bedroom suite.  Complimentary shoot with the ability to purchase digital images separately.  Perfect timing for those of you that are tanning for spring break or just getting back from your spring break trip!

2013 spokesmodels for Shelley Anderson Photography/minneapolis senior photographer

This year I will be having two senior girls from Orono High School as my spokesmodels.  I am offering these two senior girls my full price package for my mini price with the stipulation that their senior shoot is booked and completed by June 15, 2012.  I have pre-chosen Abbey Saville as one of my models, but I will be interviewing for the other spokesmodel.  Contact me if you have any questions, I am so excited for this season.  BTW, i wish i could offer this to all of the schools that I shoot for, but at this time I just cannot.  Last year alone I pulled seniors from at least 20 different schools, but Orono was my biggie…48 seniors alone from one school and it’s the school my kiddos attend as well:)  This was a big jump from 14 seniors the previous year…crazy good!

to my clients/check it out/minneapolis natural light photographer

Whew!  I have spent quite a bit of time the past two days enabling it so you can order products that Shelley Anderson Photography has never offered before:)  I am very, very, very excited as I am now offering a professional lab that none of you would be able to order from on your own.  For the most part I have everything updated, I am still deciding if I want to add a few more products…but I don’t want to overwhelm you with too many options as well:)  As always, straight from your private gallery you are able to order wallets, prints, square prints, framed prints, gallery wraps, standouts, etc.  But…new to Shelley Anderson Photography includes:  fine art prints, acrylic prints, metal prints, matted prints, etc.  Take a few minutes, head on over to your private gallery and see all of the new stuff that is available to you!  Because I upgraded to an even better lab there were some minor print changes as the base price changed as well.  ie.  4 x 6 prints went from 29 cents to 39 cents.  Still much better than $8.00-30.00 like a traditional photographer and the best of the best lab available to me/us!  I personally do not have an acrylic print or a metal print in my stash but I am already drooling! And, don’t get me started on how bad I want a metal mural on my walls:) Holler if you have any questions, I am always here to help!

i am excited to tell you, my clients, that i upgraded the professional lab that i am now offering straight from your private gallery.  why?  i want to offer a few more products, an even better lab-not that i was unhappy with my last one, and thicker paper…plus, the option of boutique wrapping:)  for the next 24 hours all galleries will be disabled for ordering.  i apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you:)  i just want to make sure everything is how i want it and have all of the additional products that i want as options for you included.

can i just say that sometimes it does pay to hand your business card to a stranger and without doing so i would not have images like these:)  i am tickled with many of these…but skylar made my job very, very easy!  my camera loved her, i think you will agree.  this is going to be a long post, as i couldn’t decide which images to share…and please keep in mind that i also had a hard time choosing whether to showcase color or bw on these.  as my regular clients/blog followers know i edit in color and bw for each image…

i could have hung out with skylar and her dad all day:)  i had tons of fun!  i love working with models so if you think your son/daughter could model and are looking for a portfolio/comp card, let’s talk.  i believe i have a mn viking cheerleader wannabee as my next commercial shoot and i’m so excited!  i honestly love my job:)

get ready for some cute, cute stuff:)  i ran into skylar and her dad last summer at burger jones near lake calhoun and couldn’t resist handing off my business card.  well, we finally got around to making a mini modeling shoot happen.  this gorgeous girl is currently working with 4 of the big modeling agencies here in minneapolis:)  here is my first edit…more to come later this week…she liked me until i asked that we do some shots outside:):):):)  here’s skylar…
