I am currently interviewing for the ONE more high school senior rep from orono 2013 and I will be choosing a second female to represent my business. I need one additional day to complete all of the interviews and make my final decision…I know I told a few girls that I would be making the decision by Monday…but I need to change that to Tuesday, April 9th by 10 pm to complete everything on my end. I will announce my final senior rep decision for shelley anderson photography here on my blog and also facebook. it has been a fun process for me so far:)
have a fantastic easter everyone! we 4 are staying local. we headed to dassel today and played cards with my dad for several hours. tomorrow i am taking it easy and made reservations at the st. louis park woodfire grill on open table. it’s hard to find a place with availability at noon on easter when you do this last minute. crazy, i know:) hopefully my dad will leave the nursing home on tuesday? time will tell.

good morning! i announced on facebook that i met with wilhelmina on tuesday and i passed the “test”…and my official first shoot for them is today:) i am really enjoying the whole modeling side of photography, and i am learning many new things along the way as well. very excited that they have chosen to work with me as one of their independent photographers:)

i am doing to do my darndest to edit 5 person edits from ixtapa per day this week. here goes the first 5 that i chose today. and honestly, i barely pulled my camera out this trip:) gulp…bad mom! i took my canon 20 d that is 8+ years old? not sure on that.

we are headed to see my dad in the nursing home today as a family…i went yesterday solo. here is one quick image from our trip from ixtapa. this was taken from our villa balcony with my old, old, old 20d…i kept all of my good equipment at home due to all of the heavy tourist warnings. on a side note: i think if you play it safe/smart…traveling in ixtapa is totally safe. we did stay off of the beaches at night and stayed close to the hotel zone, but we would head back there tomorrow if we could:)

Just a quick good morning to all of you that read my blog…to let you know that i am back home and back to work! I will be catching up this whole weekend-returning all calls, emails and approving orders:) I had a fabulous time at the Barcelo in Ixtapa with my family. As many of you know our family travels to Mexico every spring break…for a little r and r and sun/fun. We had not been to Ixtapa for the past 5 years so it was good to be back. We are not high maintenance people when we travel to Mexico, but here is my review on the whole trip…
absolute fabulous weather…gorgeous as always…only wednesday had clouds in the sky, the rest of the week could not have been prettier
the beach was wonderful
the barcelo was the hotel to be at this year in ixtapa…so glad we chose this hotel as we wanted to be on the main beach strip. we did hear good things about the azul/which used to be the melia though but it is off by itself more.
the kids met great kids from wisconsin, two families that we hung with and had fun with
the barcelo is an aged hotel, we had a villa/family suite and having more room was great, but it was really dated. the best thing was that the waves were literally 100 yards from our villa so we had the sliding door open all night
the shows at night were not the best…
nobody had any stomach problems this year…so this is HUGE!!!! a big plus for the trip:)
the breakfast and snack bar food was great, we did not care much for the buffets at night-four nights we left the property:)
thoroughly enjoyed franks across the street, senior frogs and also deborah’s…great american like food:)
enjoyed the beach volleyball in a big way
the pools were great
ixtapa has sure changed due to all of the tourist warnings. years ago the shoppes and the restaurants near the hotel zone were swarming with americans/canadians…this year they were very quiet. so sad.
we love that we could walk everywhere at night…one block to restaurants, one block to shopping-this is why ixtapa is so appealing to us(besides the weather rocks).
the entertainment staff at the barcelo-not as good as at the riu.
pretty much 80+ and sunny all week…a great time.
on the negative side…my dad was hospitalized the day we left/litchfield hospital and this past thursday was transferred to the dassel nursing home. so, i am headed there today for a visit! also, my good friend, becky, her dad died while i was gone too. the funeral was yesterday and i was not there for her:( note to self: trip insurance is something that we will need to buy from here on out.
thanks for following my life/blog a bit! i am back to reality…kind of feeling pulled a bit already in so many directions already…just doing my best:) have a super day everyone!

Just a friendly fyi this afternoon…I will be away from my computer 3/22-3/29 enjoying some much needed family time. I will be returning all phone calls/emails on 3/30 and 3.31. And because I don’t like to post without a few images…here are two more for your viewing! wilhelmina mini shoots with me…like i promised earlier, a big album when i get back on 3.30 here for sure:) I just need to watermark more and resize for web, it just all takes time!

sometimes it is what it is…perfectly imperfect. we ventured to dassel yesterday to see my dad and his wife, verna. he is in his early 80′s and is not doing the best. he has myastheniusgravidus, and diabetes and depressed due to all of his medical symptoms. i took some groceries again…as verna tends to him a ton and she doesn’t get out like she used to due to his health. grandpa was in his jammies…and never got out of his jammies…i did get him to their front door for the pics…and he sat on the beat up cooler-but, it is better than no pictures at all. the wind was nasty…bad, bad news for all of our hair.
a good visit…a good visit…it stinks to get old though:( it’s tough to watch my dad suffer and complain…i wish i/we could do more for him.

today i am headed to my dad’s as he’s not doing well at all. it is so tough to see your parents suffer due to illnesses/age/depression that goes along with it all. i am plugging away as fast as i can on the wilhelmina edits and for those that know me i typically beat a deadline 99.9% of the time, but i know the wilhelmina agency director told you one week for your edits, but i will be needing one or two more days-i finished all of of the edits from last saturday and now i am plugging away on the models from sunday!
more sneak peeks of my recent edits. i will do a big wilhelmina post when i am all done with all of the models. i promise, so be sure to check back mid week. i just heard that wilhelmina would like to work with me more in the future…woot, woot, woot…as an independent photographer like i am now…time will tell whether we can get terms to work:) i do so enjoy working with models…but i will still be doing my seniors, boudoirs, etc…no worries there! i am flattered though that wilhelmina wants to work with me more…yippeeeeee!

one sneak peek this morning…here’s gorgeous carri, my second model last weekend at the mill city museum when i was shooting for wilhelmina modeling agency. i just love her coloring and her dress was perfect for an urban setting, don’t cha think? i am honored to call her my friend and i am extra lucky as she lives down the street:) i was tickled that she signed up for the wilhelmina gig when she heard i was the photographer as she is already currently signed on with another agency in town!
